Visa Cancellations

All non-citizens can potentially have a visa cancelled, whether the visa held is permanent, temporary, substantive or not. Cancellation can occur however long a person has been resident in Australia. When a visa is cancelled, it ceases to be in effect. The consequences of having a visa cancelled could effect other visa holders and the ability to apply for any other visa, and the person may face re-entry bans for substantial periods of time.

Generally, the power to cancel a visa is discretionary. This means that, even though there are grounds for cancellation, the Department does not have to cancel the visa. So if you receive a Notice of Intention to cancel your visa, Contact Us immediately as there are very strict time limits in which to provide a response.
